Summary

This lecture is concerned with different aspects of modelling three-dimensional curves and surfaces. Typical areas of application are computer-aided design (CAD), reconstruction of surfaces from sensor data (reverse engineering) and construction of smooth interpolants. The lecture covers the following topics:

  • polynomial curves
  • Bézier curves, rational Bézier curves
  • B-splines
  • tensor product surfaces
  • triangular Bézier surfaces
  • polyhedral surfaces
